This was not how I planned it....

You know when you plan something out and you go through it over and over in your head and get so excited for the outcome that you are giddy? I did that! I planned our summer vacation for our family to head to the happiest place on earth and couldn't wait until the tickets got here. I also couldn't wait until we could tell the kids about the big surprise.

Well, tonight after dinner we had a family meeting. We all gave suggestions of where we would like to go. Lincoln suggested Connecticut, why, I have no idea. Brinley wanted to go on a hike and go swimming. Okay, I guess.

After a few minutes of suggestions, I brought out these cute travel tags and handed them out. There were no screams of excitement, there were no big smiles, there was simply silence. We asked the kids how they felt and Brinley said that she misses her cousins and friends. Lincoln said that he would rather go to Washington DC and see the white house or go to New York or possibly do the Disney cruise ship because that's where all the fun is. After I tried to add some excitement by telling him that we are going for 2 whole days, he wanted to know if we could just spend one whole day sitting in the hotel room. I decided to read the fun list of rides to them and told them about the fireworks, jedi training, and the goofy dinner that we will attend. At this point, he got furious and said he felt like hitting us for planning this.

Well at this point, the whole plan of excitement was ruined and Doug (with a very red face) sent Lincoln to his room and Brinley stood there still pouting about missing her friends and cousins. Doug loudly exclaimed (per Doug, he did not scream), that we will take other people that want to go to Disneyland with us and leave the kids with cousins and they can't play their cousins WII the whole time we are gone. Then he put the tickets away.

Needless to say, the mood in this house is not what I had envisioned.

What a magical experience we have had this evening! Some days I have to wonder why I put any effort into anything I do.

For the record, I will not be going to Connecticut and I will not spend one whole day sitting in the hotel room. (atleast not with family in tow)

Have a Magical Terrific Day!

It's True!!!!

Our youngest child graduated from preschool. Wow, how we ever made it through those two years, I couldn't tell you. Brinley did her best and loved every minute of it.
From what I have heard, she is the oldest in her class and as you can see, she is the shortest. I don't think the other mothers were aware that she is older than the other kids because they mentioned that she is so smart. Yep she is! (I highly suggest putting your kids in the younger class to make them feel smart hee, hee.)

I tried my hardest to get her to put on a cute little spring dress like the other girls but she decided that her hand-me-over clothes were the best choice for the big day. They are fine but once in awhile it is fun for mom to have a little princess. Oh well.

I honestly have never seen her smile so big and this is how she was during her whole program. Now we get to look forward to all day kindergarten starting in the fall. UUUGH!

Meet me at the airport

Today when I picked Lincoln up from school he quickly said that he didn't get his work all done because of (Josway). Well sometimes that happens and sometimes it doesn't. It just so happened that while we were eating our cinco de mayo dinner, Lincoln ran and got a paper for me to read. On the front of his school work paper that says WEDNESDAY in big bold letters it says: Send this to Kaela (that was the note for me) and also on the front it says make sure you don't find any more boyfriends. (note for Kaela)

The inside of Lincolns nicely folded up school work, that isn't done by the way, it says: Kaela, I do not know how to spell your name. I moved to Arizona. It's a different state. If you want to marry me you should meet me at the airport. I am 7, soon I will turn 8. Put this where you will see it when you go in your room.

Talk about love. These two have been in love since preschool and I have pictures at the beginning of my blog of them sitting together at preschool graduation. I think I have another picture on my blog of when she came to play at our house last year and she had her lipstick from ear to ear, perfume galore and her fancy purse. Kaela gave Lincoln a picture of herself and he keeps it on his dresser. We have moved three times and they have moved once. I however am currently working with my special forces to get this letter to the princess. I don't want to be the one who messed up the plans for the GRAND meeting at the airport. I know they are just kids but I think it is so cute.

By the way, I think that poor Josway is off the hook!

Part of the group

Lincoln, my most favorite son ever is making a change. This whole moving 3 times in one year has gotten to us a bit and sadly enough it has gotten to my Lincoln a little more than the rest of us. He left a wonderful neighborhood full of children his age that he thinks about often and that he wishes he could go visit constantly. We basically bought this current house because of the park across the street assuming that would bring some friends around.

We of course aren't from here so we didn't know that people don't play outside in the winter 50-70 degree weather because it is too cold, which is when we moved in. We also didn't know that on the exact street that we moved to, there are no children Lincolns age. Lots of kids are 2 and under or 10 and over. Let's just say, it's been really hard for a mom to watch her child be lonely.

Lincoln is also a little more imaginative than other kids and likes to wear costumes and pretend fight with the air. Some may think it is strange, I say it's fine, he is having fun and besides all the kids he used to play with did it so I guess it would be normal for his age.

This past week Lincoln has been hanging out at the park and I started noticing that these older boys have invited him to play with them. He has been playing football, Star Wars fighting and today was a big game of kick ball. WOW! They are so nice to him and have helped him to feel like part of the neighborhood. They didn't even care that he was wearing his flourescent swim goggles today to play kick ball. What a blessing to finally see him so happy. I snuck outside and video taped the kick ball game from my front porch so it's not very close but I didn't want to embarrass my son. Anyway, this is such a humongous milestone in our life that I had to share it with everyone and also I wanted to Thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, they were truly felt and also for my ever Loving Heavenly Father for watching over me and my little family. I guess it's true that you have to have a little bad to know what good is.

Lincoln is in the turquoise shirt running the bases.

New Hair Cut

Brinley: Do you like my haircut?

It's Free!

It's called bangs or not!

I tried to get a real close cut, since my mom was busy.

I even cleaned up afterwards! I'm not complaining, I want mom to take pictures because I did an awesome job!

Super Something

Lincoln has decided that with all of his costumes he is going to make a different hero each week. He has also decided that all of the creations shall have the same name.
The name shall be MIX-RYE! This is the first weeks super hero. As you can see, he has put a lot of thought into creating this.
This is Mix-Rye testing out his super powers on Doug. It's obvious that Doug is no match.

Lincoln has been telling us for the past couple of months that he really needs glasses. He even took Doug into the Walmart optical and picked out some blue Super hero frames that he was sure that he needed. (Ssshhh, I think they were Hannah Montana) Doug was beginning to fill the pressure and started checking prices at the optical centers. Luckily, while Lincoln and I were on our date last week, we found these really handsome glasses at Claires. They were only 8.00. Bargain! We bought both him and Brinley a pair and I do believe that was money well spent. He feels that he can see better and he wears them to school. I am asked to clean them often with my special glass cleaning cloth. School picture day was last week and I did let him know that he may want to take them off because of the glare. Wheeew! He told me that he hid them behind Zachary. Lucky us! Anyway, these are my silly happy kids in their fancy glasses. I believe I could make the below pictures black and white and he would look just like he belongs on My Three Sons. (hee, hee)
